events ranging from NASCAR premier series to go-kart and sports car
championships. On Saturday, January 30, for the
fifth consecutive year, Homestead-Miami Speedway will host the annual
Lawnmower Race benefitting the Arc of South Florida.
Participants
will race modified lawnmowers provided by Berry’s Paint, Hardware &
Flooring in Homestead. Registration is now open to all. To register for

Annual Lawnmower Race, please click here. Entry forms can

Proceeds
from the event, which is open to the general public, benefit The Arc of
South Florida – an organization that provides assistance to individuals
with physical and mental disabilities.
The funds raised will go toward enhancing vital services and quality
programs of the Arc of South Florida, and to continue promoting social,
economic and personal independence for those served.
Racers
can register in the individual race division for a $25 entry fee. The
individual category will be comprised of four-person heats. The first
rider to complete one lap around a 1/8-mile
course will be declared the heat winner. Heat winners will square off
against each other in a run-off to determine the overall individual
champions. The first event is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
Teams
are invited to compete in relay-style heat races against other teams. A
team entry costs $250 for four riders that race with each taking a turn
behind the wheel.
The
races will feature Pit Stop Challenges. Racers in the individual and
team classes will be required to stop at various Pit Stops located
throughout the track, each staffed by employees from
local businesses. Riders will be required to complete a designated
activity at each area before moving on. Pit Stop Challenge sponsors will
be afforded a complimentary team entry.
